Goodhouse is a small remote settlement which developed around an old pont crossing
which is still in use today.
Agriculture in the area is dependent upon irrigation schemes which abstract water from
the Orange River. Dates are grown in the nearby Koo River Valley as shown below.

There is also a pumping station at Goodhouse where water is abstracted for the towns of
Steinkopf, OKiep, Springbok and Kleinsee.
