World Water Monitoring Day (WWMD) is observed on 18 October each year to increase public awareness and involvement in the protection of water quality around the world.

The Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF) has three broad focus areas for WWMD 2007, under the theme:

Get Smarter! Know Your Water!

The focus areas are:

  • Mass Communications Campaign

Download and print your own copy of the posters, banners, print adverts, press releases and other collateral or listen to the radio adverts in all our eleven official languages.

  • Secondary Schools Competition

Download and print the Information Brochure and Application Form to apply and get your school to enter and win R25,000!
If you are not a learner or educator, get any of your local secondary schools to participate. Don’t forget to involve your local municipality.

  • Drinking Water Quality

Our drinking water quality impacts on our survival! Get the assistance of your local municipality to test the water from your taps.
Get Smarter!
and read the documents available online.
