The launch of the Women in Water Awards in March 2002 marked the beginning of an important tradition in South Africa. This year will be the 8th edition of the Women in Water and Forestry Awards and the ceremony will take place on 29 August 2008.
The 2008 WiWF Awards Ceremony will be preceded by the launch of a National Women in Water and Forestry Organisation. Consultative workshops will be held before the launch in all the provinces for the women who are involved in the Water and Forestry sectors.
The Department is calling for women, women groups and organisations to nominate Individual Women, Women Groups, Women Cooperatives, Municipalities, Water Agencies, NGO’s, Research Organisations and Educational institutions who have made an outstanding contribution in advancing the cause of women in the Water, Sanitation and Forestry Sectors. Nominations can be for projects and any outstanding work in the areas water and management, sanitation and forestry.
The deadline for electronic submissions of nominations is 27 July 2008. The closing date for those attending provincial consultative workshops will be the date of the consultative workshop in the respective provinces.
