MUNICIPAL INDABA, 11-12 September 2008

11-12 September 2008 - Birchwood Conference Centre, East Rand, Gauteng

What is the Municipal Indaba?

The Minister in her budget speech in May 2008 announced the Municipal Indaba, which will be a forum where Municipalities and the Departments of Water Affairs and Forestry, Provicial and Local Government, National Treasury, as well as Provincial Departments of Local Government will be engaging on key issues that affect the sector.

Objectives of the Indaba are:

  • To identify the key challenges affecting Municipalities with regards to Water Sanitation Service
  • To discuss among the 3 spheres of Government and agree on solutions and joint actions to be embarked on when dealing with these challenges
  • To prepare municipalities for future compliance and enforcement of Departmental actions
  • To share international experiences on an integrated approach to the management of Water Resources and Water Services
  • To solicit input from the municipalities of proposed water for growth and development strategy
  • To exhibit technologies that can be used in the water value chain
