Human Rights Day Walk For Water, 21 March 2011

On March 21st, Human Rights Day, a ‘Walk for love of water’ will begin at the CTICC at 1:30pm to highlight the basic human right of access to fresh water.

The walk will be attended by members of the United Nations, Department of Water Affairs, local and foreign musicians, members of the corporate sector as well as NGO’s and the general public inline with the National Water Week theme “working together we can save water”. This walk will also bring awareness to the fact that many people have to walk distances to gain access to fresh water in South Africa and throughout the World.

The walk will be joined by performers, drummers, minstrels, floats and puppets along the way. The walk passes the station and ends at The Company Gardens where the Cape Town Festival hosts live arts performances and music including; Emo Adams, Jesse Clegg and Judith Sephuma. This year the Cape Town Festival is free to the public.

This 3-day open-air event is for love of water.
