NATIONAL IMBIZO FOCUS WEEK, 1 - 9 OCTOBER 2005

Participatory and integrated governance to build a South Africa that truly belongs to all

The eighth national Imbizo Focus Week will take place from 1 to 9 October 2005. Ministers and Deputy Ministers will participate in events across the country as part of government's initiatives towards integrated governance for effective service delivery.

The focus week is aimed at assessing progress made through the Municipal Imbizo Programme interventions as well as continuing to address challenges that have been highlighted through the Programme. A Municipal Imbizo is an intensive and interactive community based meeting of the three spheres of Government targeted at the 136 municipalities being supported through Project Consolidate (a hands-on local government support and engagement programme designed to enhance municipal capacity to deliver services and improve performance).

Minister for Water Affairs and Forestry, Buyelwa Sonjica, and Deputy Minister for Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Rejoice Mabudafhasi, will visit Engcobo Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape.
