STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP ON THE SOCIAL AUDIT OF EXISTING DAMS

Stakeholder Workshop on the Social Audit of Existing Dams

The Department of Water Affairs and Forestry has embarked on an investigation into the social impact of ten existing dams in South Africa, namely the Inanda, Qedusizi, Woodstock, Gariep, Loskop, Van der Kloof, Sandile, Pongolapoort, Kat River and Thapane Dams. Apart from the identification and assessment of social impacts, a crucial part of the study is to report on stakeholder concerns after which an applicable approach and methodology can be designed for the audit.

The Department of Water Affairs and Forestry's Directorate: Stakeholder Empowerment is organising a work session on the investigation. The purpose of the workshop will be to determine the approach and methodology that will be used for the audit.
