Regulatory Impression: Again, an exceptional performance. The Department notes the extraordinary effort of Mogale City officials to comply with each of the aspects listed as Blue Drop requirements. Together with the assistance of Rand Water and City of Johannesburg, the water supply system drinking water operations and management deserves the sought-after Blue Drop Certification status. The Lead Inspector eloquently describes the municipality’s performance:
“Mogale City comprises of a very small but most dynamic Blue Water Service Team. Blue Drop compliance concerns as raised by the National Water Regulator especially with respect to the Water Safety planning process was addressed with absolute enthusiasm and commitment. Mogale City excelled in virtually every key performance area. Their Blue Drop Awareness campaigns was intense and really out of the ordinary. The Blue Drop publicity covered over 20 (in the local languages) ranging from (everything linked to Blue Drop): T-shirts, Book-binders, pens, caps, water bottles, educational sessions, bookmarkers, newspaper ads, billboard ads, BDS, website, community awareness campaigns, news snippets, blue flags on the water trucks - a real achievement for Blue Drop awareness. Mogale City responded outstandingly to the Blue Drop Certification Programme and have the presented an almost perfect response to the confirmation audit. The Municipality can be counted amongst one of the best Water Service Institutes in the country and is encouraged to continue with its impressive performance and to showcase its work to other Municipalities. The Mogale City (not surprisingly) works in closely with both Rand Water and Johannesburg Water via the City of Johannesburg to safeguard the sustainable delivery of safe drinking water. The enormous amount of work that they have covered can only be described as excellent and displaying the value of cooperation between the Bulk Water Supplier and the WSA.”
