Water Quality Management is not a new task to the Department: Water Affairs and Forestry. This has been, and still is, the primary task with regards to the Protection of Water Resources. However the Regulation of Drinking Water Quality focus is different this time round, as the Department is ensuring the Protection of Consumers’ Health. The Department is committed to get systems in place to ensure that South Africans enjoy safe drinking water but are also conscious of the fact that success in this regard is largely dependant on the commitment of Water Services Authorities.
The purpose of this web-system is therefore not only to inform the general public on Drinking Water Quality (DWQ) issues, but also to avail support tools and documentation to Water Services Authorities to ensure the enhancement of DWQ.
