Although the main purpose of this web site is to provide details of the
Orange River basin, the Vaal River is included since it is the most important tributary of
the Orange River. It is envisaged that the Vaal River basin will eventually be the
subject of a full web site, consistent with its importance to the country. For the
purpose of this Orange River site, only information concerning the most important
dams in the Vaal River basin is provided. This information can be accessed by
selecting an item from the list provided on the left or by clicking on one of the dams on
the map below.
