Resource Quality Services:
RQS is a directorate in the Water Resource Information Management chief directorate under the Policy and Regulation Branch of the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry.

Purpose of RQS:
To provide the national water resource management function with resource quality and technical information, guidelines and procedures necessary to address the strategic and operational requirements for the protection and assessment of water resource quality.

Water quality analysis:
Note that our laboratories only process samples related to the national monitoring programmes.

HRI-IWQS-RQS: three decades
This directorate officially opened as the Hydrological Research Institute on 20 October 1972. In 1994 it became the Institute for Water Quality Studies and in 2003 RQS. Read more here.
