NORAD Resources Provided for Project ImplementationThe Programme has been planned to span two phases. NORAD currently funds the first phase, to 2003, with a South African contribution by the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry. The NORAD portion is in the form of a grant of 25 Million Norwegian Kroner (19.1 Million Rands) over the period 2000-2003. Additional inputs from DWAF will consist of the allocation of technical personnel to some of the projects, administrative assistance, including provision of a Programme Manager, the printing of brochures for certain projects, and additional funding to the projects. DWAFs contribution quantified in financial terms amounts to an equivalent of 8.0 Million Norwegian Kroner (6 Million Rands). The total Geohydrology budget of the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry is R25 million. The Norwegian grant will make the R700 million community water supply programme more effective.
